Finding a job after I graduate has always seemed like a daunting task but now it seems impossible. Graduation is only six months and two weeks away and I still have no direction when it comes to finding a job. I never realized that people start looking for a corporate job a year before graduating. It seems I’m a little late to the party… This was the moment I had a full-blown panic attack. After calming myself down from this realization I started my research on finding the best outlets to help me with my job search. Listed below are the resources I found.
LinkedIn is one of the biggest networks for professionals is LinkedIn. It is a site that allows you to build professional connections with other people and companies who are on the site. You can also directly apply for a job listing through LinkedIn. You should create a compelling LinkedIn profile by adding a professional photo, a current cover letter and resume, and distinct work titles. You can also take watch videos on certain business subjects that can be added to your profile so that employers can see that you are actively trying to learn more about a specific area of business.
Indeed
Indeed is a website that collects job advertisements from multiple sources and lets you apply directly through it. All you must do is create a personalized profile, upload your cover letter and resume, and apply job filters according to pay, location, and kind of work. Indeed is really helpful to use when you have very specific requirements for the kind of jobs that you are interested in applying for.
Glassdoor
Glassdoor offers job postings as well as information on salaries, companies, and interview experiences. On this site you are able to learn about the company’s work culture, benefits, and wage expectations before applying for a job. Additionally, you can obtain company-specific interview recommendations.
Handshake
Handshake is helpful for recent college graduates. Many colleges have an account for all of their students so that they can connect with alumni’s that are looking for employees. The employers can engage with recent graduates and college students using this platform. Handshake and other institutions have partnered to provide employment opportunities. All you must do is register on Handshake’s website or through your college. Through the site, you may directly apply for internships, entry-level positions, and attend virtual career fairs.
Career Services for College Students
Career services divisions at many institutions help former students in finding employment. They might provide job advertisements, career advice, resume evaluations, and simulated interviews. You can set up an appointment with the career center at the college that you attend.
Networking Events and Career Fairs
Making a good impression and going straight to the point with your qualifications is possible when you meet recruiters and companies in person. I personally found the company I interned for over the summer internship through my college’s business internship fair. Look at websites such as Meetup, Eventbrite, or the events page at your university to make sure that you don’t miss these events!
Company Websites
Some businesses solely publish positions on their websites rather than on job boards. It is important that you are actively looking at the company’s websites that you are eager to apply to. You can submit your email on those companies websites to get notifications of job postings, etc.
I hope that these resources will help you through your job search. I have personally used all these resources, and it has helped get rid of a lot of the stress I previously had about finding a job. These resources have made it easy and convenient for me.
